The Classic Smoothie

This is the classic smoothie that I make all the time.  Sometimes this is my breakfast. 

Put all of the following ingredients in a blender and gradually increase speed to Puree.  Puree until smooth.   

  • 1 Cup Fat Free Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Frozen Organic Blueberries
  • 1/2 Cup Fat Free Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 Small Banana, Broken into Pieces
  • 1 Scoop of Protein Powder (I use Natural Essentials Whey Powder – Chocolate or Strawberry)

Note the following substitutions:

  • Could use Almond, Coconut, Soy, Buttermilk, Rice Milk instead of Cow’s Milk
  • Could use any frozen fruit instead of blueberries, although blueberries are the one fruit that truly holds their sweetness when frozen.
  • Add whatever fresh fruit is in season or on sale — Kiwi, Melon, Pineapple, Apples, Apricot, Blackberries, Cherries (pitted!), Dates, Grapes, Grapefruit, Guava, Lemon, Lime, Mangoes, Papaya, Peaches, Pears, Plums, Raspberries, Watermelon, etc.
